When two brilliant young scientists, Clive and Elsa, are banned from their project, splicing together DNA from different species, they secretly carry on, creating, from animal and human DNA, Dren, an eerie hybrid creature. Dren soon develops from innocent infant to unruly adolescent and, while Elsa takes on a mothering role, Clive finds himself sexually attracted.
