Sutherland plays the detective investigating a girl's brutal murder in Montreal. Lots of family feuding mean almost everyone had a perfectly good reason for doing the horrid deed, but who actualy did? Gripping stuff that'll keep you guessing.

Good quality weepie about a young woman whose determination to make something of her life tears her away from the home and family she loves - only for fate (or circumstance) to throw her back into its familiar arms right at the wrong time. A sweet love story that hits all the right cues. A fine Sunday afternoon drama.

Mid-life crisis wife Catherine hires a seductive hooker, Chloe, to 'test' the loyalty of hubbie David (a very dangerous course of action)... and the rest will be revealed as you watch this adaptation/remake of the 2003 French drama Nathalie.
This is good, though Atom Egoyan's style, best suited to enigmatic arthouse films, does seem a little out of kilter when this film takes a turn into stalker/thriller territory.

Eight people, unknown to each other, wake up in a cube shaped room. They are now in the fourth dimension where the normal laws of physics no longer apply and the unique skill that each possesses is the only hope one of them has to leave this lethal labyrinth. Cube 2 is a sequel to the original and though it lacks much of the class and originality it's still a relatively intriguing cerebral horror.

In 'Defendor', the release of which was overshadowed by that of the flashier 'Kick Ass', our superhero is somewhat short of a six-pack, but aided by a cute female sidekick, he finds a focus in taking down the local criminal kingpin.
The film's strength lies in its low key approach, remembering never to sell out its emotional content at the expense of a couple of laughs. There is comedy here, it's just that it's tinged with more than your average dose of melancholy.
