Desmond Doyle is a devoted father to his three children and when they are abandoned by his wife the man struggles to take care of the wee ones whilst still holding down his job. The Irish authorities and in particular the Catholic church have different ideas however, and when the children are removed from Doyle an epic and historic battle for custody unfolds. This is an odd one. Small-town America in winter. A young sociopath works with his widowed mother in a morgue. His fascination with corpses and a series of local murders leads him to suspect a frail neighbour (Christopher Lloyd) of being the perpetrator.
