It's the spring of 1943 and the Allies code-breaking headquarters are facing a crisis, the German U-boats have changed their codes and there is a vital convoy heading across the Atlantic. In desperation the authorities call in Jericho a genius with the abacus, but a disturbed man with a confused secret and issues with the pomposity of authority. Jericho has a mystery to solve himself, the disappearance of the woman he loves, who is also the prime suspect in the secret services search for a spy. Enigma is an entertaining yarn, not quite a thriller more an old fashioned whodunnit, slightly staged and occasionally slow but worth a watch nonetheless.
