Frances Mayes is a writer from San Francisco, she's also an emotional mess, and at the insistence of a friend packs her bags and heads off to Tuscany for a ten day break. Before she fully realises what she's done Frances becomes the incredulous new owner of a dilapidated Italian villa, a commitment that opens the doors to all manner of life affirming experiences. Under the Tuscan Sun is an enjoyably humorous romantic drama, and if the story doesn't grab you then the scenery almost certainly will.
