The phrase ‘heartless b*!tard' just doesn't do Max Skinner justice, he's the king of the London stock exchange, loathed by everyone with a shred of decency, and envied for his ruthlessness by those without. When Max inherits a beautiful vineyard in Provence from his uncle he heads off to France with the sole intention of selling it; but much to his surprise there is some heart in him and slowly, but surely, he is seduced by the new surroundings and its people. A Good Year is a fantastically unadventurous romantic comedy drama, but it looks gorgeous and its very lack of ambition makes it the perfect, undemanding, feel good movie.
