Alan is an indie singer-songwriter who has just arrived in Brooklyn after the break-up of his band. He has a coveted gig at the hip Northsix club that is being promoted by Sara, who has more than just professional designs on Alan. The singer however remains oblivious to her advances, preferring to hang out with his old mate Lawrence and Lawrence' girlfriend, Ellie, who does to Alan what he does to Sara. Andrew Bujalski follows up his critically acclaimed debut, ‘Funny Ha Ha' with a similarly themed tale of friendship and love.
