Aspirant 27-year-old author Jim has had to abandon his shot at independence in the Big Apple and, full of Oedipal rage, return to skulking round his small town Indiana roots with ever so jolly mother, distant father and useless brother. Forced to earn cash, by working in the family business, and to take over his hospitalised brother's school basketball team, he soon finds pretty nurse, and local girl, Anika (strangely) attracted to him; although if you saw the competition it's not so strange! He then, vaguely, starts to get a life.
