One night in a bar an old friend tells director Ari Folman about a recurring nightmare in which he is chased by 26 vicious dogs; every night the same number, and though he knows the immediate reason, which relates to the Israeli / Lebanese war of the early 1980s, he is no less haunted. Intrigued by his friend's riddle and tormented by his own lack of memory Ari embarks upon a quest to find all those involved in the battle; now spread across the world, to bring light to a dark and shameful event in both the nation's and his own history. 'Waltz With Basher' is not merely a moving, striking and imaginative graphic animation but also an apology (however redundant) from an ever growing minority who would perhaps fight for peace before faith and political expediency… should such a luxury ever be theirs to choose.
