Mike Flaherty is a kindly but struggling attorney who commits one desperate act of dubious morality when he represents an old man, Leo, who has dementia. But it is when Leo’s estranged grandson Kyle enters the scene that Mike’s life begins to really change. Like his previous films (The Station Agent/The Visitor) writer, director Tom MCarthy has created another bitter sweet observation of humanities gentle dysfunctionality, and as ever he pulls excellent performances from his cast.
