A mute black alien and escaped slave with telekinetic powers crash lands on Ellis Island and is transported to Harlem, where, sweet-natured and honest, he observes life from his own naive perspective. This droll movie is never formulaic, often shooting off in strange directions, is full of deft observations and tales and is never boring. A finely balanced satire from one of America's leading independent film makers.
