Hollywood rewrites the history books in this meaty western. Lancaster is ruggedly regal as Massai, the lone Apache who waged his own war on the U.S Army long after Geronimo had surrendered. Beautifully shot and performed, but hampered by its enforced, typically Tinseltown upbeat ending.
