Beaty is a woman of a certain age who's spent her adult life in a twilight world of seedy nightclubs, casual sex, illicit drugs and ruthless gangsters. When she falls in love with an American at her hostess job, he has to accept Beaty's baggage as well as the fact that her murderous ex-lover's release from prison is imminent.
