BBC drama, originally shown in two parts, following the rags-to-riches story of an opportunist young woman whose money-making scam backfires on her when emotions start getting in the way. Angela's a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, with a shiftless husband and sickly kid, but with one big advantage - her beauty. When she sees an article about rich widower Sir Fabian Omerod, she hits on an ambitious idea to set her family up for life, embarking on an Eliza Doolittle-style transformation in order to snare the ultimate sugar daddy and take him for every penny he's got. Half-expecting to fall at the first hurdle, the plan's stunning success catapaults Angela into a head-spinning double life. Highly implausible but grippingly entertaining.
