Review
Cleveland, 1978 and four teenagers plan a trip to Detroit to see their favourite band KISS in concert. Unfortunately for Lex (Andrews), Jam (Huntington), Hawk (Furlong) and Trip (De Bello), Jam's 'up tight' mother has learned of their little scheme and has burned their tickets. Undaunted, the four friends skip school and loaded with attitude and dope head for Detroit in order to procure some tickets and see the band. The bulk of the story revolves around their individual efforts to score those elusive tickets. With its take on youth culture and the almost inevitable references to sex, drugs and rock n roll 'Detroit Rock City' should appeal to fans of other recent teen flicks such as 'American Pie'. It should also find favour with the thirtysomethings who, like the intrepid foursome, were trying desperately to get laid in the seventies. Conventional and containing more bum notes than the aforementioned American Pie this is still an enjoyable wet dream odyssey.
