A group of young men are being put through their final paces in the nightmare environment that is Tigerland before being shipped off to fight in the Vietnam war. Bozz stands out from his fellow soldiers because of his unflinching disdain for authority and the contradictory characteristic of being a natural born leader, a rebel battling his predicament but increasingly forced into a position of responsibility. Tigerland is an absorbing drama in the same vein as "Full Metal Jacket", but it lacks Kubrick's raw power and refusal to glorify; enjoyable and charasmatically performed though this is, it's a considerably slighter tale.
