For those of you not in the know this is a brilliant satire on a bunch of totally cynical New Labour twats, incompetent elected officials and a bunch of muddling bureaucrats. Capaldi is superb, as the PM's foul mouthed attack dog enforcer (Alistair Campbell), as our politicians conspire with both hawks and doves in Washington in the fumbling build-up to a major war to grab oil in the Middle East.

A truly epic epic and winner of 7 Academy Awards. Lawrence serves British colonial interests during the First World War by uniting the Arabs against the fast collapsing Ottoman Empire. Stupendous cinemascope drama with a cast of thousands and some of cinema's most famous shots; Sheik Ali's emergence from the desert haze and the storming of Aquaba for example. This is the director's cut, a more coherent version than the original cinema release.

Brilliant Monty Python skit on the life of Christ which also takes a few swipes at the sectarian nature of British left wing political parties. Brian never wanted to be a messiah but fame is thrust upon him. Caused a huge outcry when it was released. Still banned in the Republic of Ireland!!

A tour de force with a stellar cast, events unfold over the period of just one day as a series of apparently random characters, from a game show host too an ex-boy genius, weave into each others lives through chance, circumstance and even divine intervention. 'Magnolia' is a drama of the highest order with both comic and very dark touches, some fine performances and an absorbingly intricate story line.

Witty, sickening, fast and above all, controversial. Benoit is a killer, but he does it with style and a smile. Filmed as a documentary, with the crew following Ben on his spree this is at times some of the cleverest spoof material ever filmed. Remarkable and original, but not to everyone's taste.

Adam Elliot's follow-up to his short opus 'Harvie Krumpet' is a tour-de-force of jaw-dropping animation, heart-wrenching beauty and exquisite sadness. Undoubtedly one of Hitch's best. An innocent businessman is mistaken for a spy by enemy agents and learns the true meaning of persecution, while a deceptively beautiful blonde in the pay of his tormentors steals his heart. A tense and compulsively gripping nice-guy's nightmare. Obligatory viewing.
