With the swimming pools, drugs, girls and parties come a bunch of spoilt young brats who seem to take their cues from 'American History X' and black inner city gangster movies. They tattoo themselves, build their bodies, call their girls bitches, sell drugs, fight and use guns. Violence, drugs, language, this movie has them in bucketloads, even sex raises its head. "American Honey is a wind-through-your-hair sort of picture with, you might argue, too many literal shots of wind going through hair, as this posse hitch rides to and fro, devoting their days to a door-to-door sales mission before rendezvousing nightly and resuming the party. Based on the novel from 2014 of the same name by Emma Jane Unsworth. This film has some wonderful bits. If you appreciate some depth, and challenge, and at times a female Withnail and I / Fleabag'esk environment this will likely work for you.
