Bohemian junkie poet Dan falls in love with gorgeous, but emotionally scewed up, art student Candy, whom he turns on to heroin. Junkies together their relationship alternates between states of oblivion, self-destruction and despair. With sympathetic performances from all concerned 'Candy' is an interesting observation of drug addiction and the blurring of emotional perception that it can bring. Don't be turned off, the tone of the movie is not as bleak as the storyline suggests.

Spike Lee injects a hefty dose of his inimitable style into this hard-hitting ghetto drug-fest. Strike is the hottest dealer on the block and the main suspect when a rival is shot dead but there are two cops on the case, and they're both looking for very different answers. Powerful and intelligent.
