Vinnie Jones plays a washed up football superstar (and we accuse the Americans of having no irony) in jail for assaulting a police officer and forced by the prison governor to put together a football team from the odd job of inmates in a match against the prison wardens. Mean Machine is a carbon copy (including the title) of an American film starring Burt Reynolds, which was a hard brutal affair that also had much grim humour.
