Himir lives at 101 Reykjavik and though fast approaching thirty he has yet to leave the comfort of his mothers home or indeed the ease of social security, but the arrival of his mother's lesbian lover and impending fatherhood are about to put a sizable spanner in his hopes for eternal slackerdom. 101 Reykjavik is a quirky and hipply hedonistic black comedy, driven along by some pretty twisted premises and a central character who is an irredeemable and apathetic git pretty much to the end. find out more...

Sabine, a young arts student, is fed up with her place as mistress to a married man and decides to get herself hitched. Her friend Clarisse suggests a prime candidate to her in the form of the eligible Edmond and the misguided Sabine sets her heart on, excuse me, taking him up the aisle. Edmond isn't easily convinced that he's the sort of guy who'll get married though. This simply plotted movie provides Rohmer with enough of an opportunity for some great dialogue exploring the nature of marriage find out more...

The king is dead, long live the king. Television has dominated the public's homes for many decades but a few radio shows have survived the visual onslaught. When new owners take over an ailing station one of their first acts is to draw to a close a much loved, but ailing, veteran variety music show. A touching, often witty, series of reminisciences that utilise a cracking cast. Robert Altman's final film may not be up there with his greats but it's still a delightfully understated ensemble piece find out more...

Entertaining Altman (if not his best) as we are shown around a fancy society wedding, flitting from character to character, interweaving plots and relationships, as the two families to be wedded find out about each other. Same narrative structure as Nashville, but without the script quality. find out more...

Charlie Kaufman is a screen writer struggling to adapt Susan Orlean's best selling novel "The Orchid Thief". As he tries to get to grips with his work Charlie must also deal with his twin brother/alter ego(?) Donald, a problem compounded by the gradual but seamless blending of reality and fiction. A surreal tale which defies the imagination of us mere mortals, Adaptation is an intelligent, crackingly performed, hilarious and perceptive flick, Spike Jonze's second feature lacks the "you what!!?" find out more...
