Based on Crowe's own adventures as a teenage music journalist, ‘Almost Famous' tells the story of a 15-year-old boy who is complacently hired by Rolling Stone magazine to write an article on the fictional band Stillwater. From the genius behind "Spinal Tap" comes a quirky but ultimately warm hearted side swipe at dog shows and the obsessive neurosis of man's best friends' masters and mistresses. Best In Show is beautifully observed and offbeat, too outright funny to be a satire and unwilling to make its eclectic bag of characters irredeemably unpleasant. A clever, occasionally hysterical, low-key gem.

Bernard Black owns a bookshop, an invitingly musty nook crammed with as much literature as it is possible for the small place to hold without collapsing. Unfortunately for Bernard his love of books is equally matched by his contempt for anyone who wishes to buy them. Add to this curious scenario his eccentric friends, Manny, amiable and constantly abused, and Fran, scatty and self obsessed and you have the ingredients for one of the best sitcom's to grace the small screen in a good while. This black comedy directed by John Waters is one of the best films around. When renegade filmmaker Cecil B. 1920's Chicago is a pretty kicking place, and nightclub sensation Velma Kelley is the hottest ticket around; but when she comes out the winner in a bit of fatal domestic violence she finds herself banged up with only slick celebrity lawyer Billy Flynn to save her. A fellow inmate in the clink is stardom hungry Roxie Hart, a woman who would like nothing more than to wrest Velam's crown from her. US teen heart-throb Johnny Depp plays Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker, the coolest dude in school and the baddest boy in Baltimore. Rich, prim, new girl Alison thinks he's a dream, her grandmother thinks he's a nightmare. An even weirder cast than 'Hairspray' in this quirky, offbeat musical extravaganza that's got a touch of traditional John Waters shock stuff, but is predominately a parody of both 50s teen rebellion and 50s teen musical flicks.
