Giuseppe Tornatore directed this grand-scale portrait of life and love over several decades in the small town in Sicily where he was born. We see a number of important historical events through the eyes of young Peppino, watching the fortunes of his town and his family rise and fall. While open to accusations of nostalgia, superficiality and indulgence the film is something of a feast for the senses.
A rambunctious family saga the kind they don't, and probably shouldn't, make any more. find out more...

Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern star as a yuppie couple on the verge of parenthood in this film from Brat Pack auteur, John Hughes. In what appears to be a self-conscious effort to stay relevant with the aging audience of his earlier ‘Crazy Kids' pictures, Hughes portrays the (ulp!) realistic problems facing millions of rich, white middle-class kids across America. What do we call our heir? What colour shall we paint his/her en suite bathroom? Blue or pink? How can Kevin spend more time with find out more...

All twelve episodes from the first series of the classic satirical puppet show. No target was safe from the series' gunsights: Margaret Thatcher and her cabinet, the opposition, the Liberals, Ronald Reagan, the Pope and the Royal Family could all find themselves up for a painful ribbing on any given programme. The series was worked around the current week's news stories and featured a number of famous impressionists, including Chris Barrie, Rory Bremner, Phil Cornwell, Steve Coogan, John Culs find out more...

It's 1985 and working class lad Brian Jackson has got himself a place at Bristol University, a sizeable step towards his ambition of getting onto University Challenge, but there is a veritable minefield for the naïve Brian to negotiate before he can achieve the pinnacle of becoming one of ‘Bamber's' babes, not least of which is the opposite sex. 'Starter For 10' is a charming well observed bitter sweet comedy, carried nicely by James McAvoy as the ‘all at sea' Brian. Neat soundtrack to. find out more...

Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin should be working for a Fortune 500 company and starting his upward climb to full-fledged yuppie-hood. Instead, the directionless 23-year-old confounds family and friends by taking a part-time job behind the counter of a video store (I personally see that as an outstanding career decision). Along with his ‘unusual’ best mate and cynical twin sister, Matt heads off to the party of all parties, and the chance to score with his high school crush. Take Me Home Tonight i find out more...
