Boxing Helena director Jennifer Lynch returns with an unsurprisingly controversial thriller centring on Bob, a sadistic blue collar serial killer who kidnaps fresh victims whislt cruising the streets in his taxi cab, and his relationship with his surrogate son, named Rabbit, who has grown up solely in his terrifying house-cum-prison. When a burned-out, brilliant professor - one who believes in lessons from life rather than textbooks - takes a job at a small college, everyone there is abuzz. He becomes involved with a teacher as well as a precocious student, but it takes a dramatic, existential act to turn his life around and make him see the world through a much rosier and more positive perspective.

Controversial former BRI (hard guys) police detective Olivier Marchal follows up his excellent police drama/thriller '36 Quai des Orfevres' with this tale of a washed up Marseilles flic finding some sort of redemption as he hunts for a serial killer and exposes police corruption at the highest level. Since '36' Marchal has come out and stated - yes they did do drugs, yes they did hang out in the same bars as criminals and yes they did cut deals. Enuff said. find out more...

A masterful adaptation of David Peace's Ellroy-esque noir trilogy. In '1974', the first chapter, a rookie journalist looks to solve the increasingly vexing case of a serial killer on the loose. A bleak vision of corruption in an emphatically isolated 'North', which raises the game for levels of darkness in TV drama. Andrew Garfield gives a captivating performance as the idealistic journalist in way over his head. Highly recommended. find out more...

The trilogy continues and life in West Riding becomes grimmer. Police corruption interferes with the search for a killer in Yorkshire, England. This time, Paddy Considine's Mancunian copper-with-a-heart-of-gold is brought in to head the inquiry into the unsolved murders. Like the journo before him, he finds resistance wherever he turns. Gripping stuff, based on David Peace's novel "Nineteen Eighty" find out more...

The grisly trilogy concludes in dramatic fashion. Mark Addy gives a sterling performance as a burned-out solicitor whose conscience won't let him give up. The seemingly untouchable, corrupt West Yorkshire police, and the true evil mastermind behind the child abductions and murders of the last 14 years are dragged into the light. Excellent British television. find out more...

This dark and disturbing story begins with two men driving around looking for a young girl to rape. As much a morality play in the vein of Haneke’s films as a straight forward thriller, focusing on motives, consequences and punishment. A slow burning and powerful if uneasy watch.
