ALIEN (1979)

Certification18 Our Rating

Much imitated but never equalled, this is the definitive space nightmare. The crew of a commercial spacecraft are stalked by a stowaway, mutating monster of veracious appetite. Weaver puts in a splendidly believable performance as the resourceful Ripley. Taut script and awesome special FX. find out more...
ALIEN 3 (1992)

Certification18 Our Rating

The third installment of Ripley's nightmare. Brilliantly conceived and brave denouement of the Alien trilogy, with Ripley stranded on a prison planet inhabited by psychopathic British actors....and IT. Brutal and cold, the atmosphere is superb, and the lack of guns and bangs only adds to it. And then they made another one... find out more...

A two disk monster that includes the original 1979 movie and the lauded directors cut, a feast of extras and your very own spaceship, OK the last bit's not entirely true, but you get the idea: find out more...

Sigourney Weaver returns as New and Improved Ripley. Utterly annihilated at the end of Alien 3, the bits of her left over have been patched up by mad, misguided space scientists, who've added more than a dash of alien DNA for good measure. This has the extraordinary effect of endowing her with a Harlem Globetrotter sized talent for basketball, and a nifty repertoire of one-liners to rival Oscar Wilde. It also gives her an enormous dose of that kick-ass attitude a girl needs if she's going to ove find out more...

CRITTERS (1986)

Certification15 Our Rating

A massive ball of furry creatures from another world eat their way through a small mid-western town followed by intergalactic bounty hunters opposed only by militant townspeople. Displaying a deft talent at balancing thrills with tongue-in-cheek wit, this was Stephen Herek's debut film. He followed it up with the bodacious 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' and 'Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead'. A superior creature feature, that may have you tucking your feet onto the sofa out of harms way. find out more...
JASON X (2002)

Certification18 Our Rating

It's the year 2455 and a team of young nubile things stumble across a seemingly deserted ship floating in space. This, of course, is an error on their part and over the course of a highly entertaining hour and half it will prove to be the last error many of them ever get to make. Jason X is the 10th edition to the Friday 13th franchise but unlike the majority of it's predecessors it's not that bad, it's sharp, funny, pacey...... and very silly, obviously. find out more...
SPUTNIK (2020)

Certification15 Our Rating

At the height of the Cold War, a Soviet spacecraft crash lands after a mission gone awry, leaving the commander as its only survivor. After a renowned Russian psychologist is brought in to evaluate the commander's mental state, it becomes clear that something dangerous may have come back to Earth with him. Set in an intriguingly nostalgic feeling USSR of the 80s, "Sputnik" is a slow-paced, but increasingly intense story that manages to make you think a bit. The characters are nuanced, the plo find out more...

The jury's still out on whether director Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Total Recall, Showgirls) is a blatantly gung-ho philistine, or a supreme p**s-taker of all things American. But the fact is, this frenzied, futuristic actioner is a hit of humongous proportions. Extraterrestrial bugs have invaded Earth, so Earth has declared war on Bugland. Casper Van Dien plays square-jawed, all-American boy Johnny Rico, who leads a pack of equally meat-headed raw recruits on a mission to kick some insect-ass on find out more...
