The definitive 'Apocalypse Now' (as if the original wasn't pretty definitive) this has nearly an hour of extra footage fleshing out the surreal journey of our central protagonists and, though it brings the film to a whisker short of three and a half hours, much of it explains what happens to the eclectic characters we meet. A sumptuous swashbuckler, with romance, swordfights and a slyly subtle wit. It's 1699, and dashing young blade Lagardere (Daniel Auteil) becomes the best friend of the fabulously wealthy Duc de Nevers (Vincent Perez) who must produce a legitimate heir. Some of the battle scenes are so powerful they defy description, tho find out more...

Epic adaptation of Fenimore-Cooper's novel of the Anglo-French war for sovereignty of the Americas. Lewis is superb as Hawkeye, the adopted Mohawk caught up in the battle because of his love for English Rose Stowe. Beautiful scenery, wonderful costumes and non-stop action that never lets go. find out more...
