Action fantasy tale about a wise-cracking trucker who attempts to rescue his friend's fiance from a 2000 year-old magician who lives beneath San Francisco's Chinatown. Two London based Irish hitmen await orders in Ye Olde Bruges of picturesque canals, churches and towers in this clever tragicomedy. Ken does the tourist bit while Ray chases skirt and rues the accidental killing of a child on his first and last job. Then Ken gets the word, and it's not what he expected. For those of you not in the know this is a brilliant satire on a bunch of totally cynical New Labour twats, incompetent elected officials and a bunch of muddling bureaucrats. Capaldi is superb, as the PM's foul mouthed attack dog enforcer (Alistair Campbell), as our politicians conspire with both hawks and doves in Washington in the fumbling build-up to a major war to grab oil in the Middle East.
