Al Gore finds life after the politically crushing embarrassment that was his tenure as vice president and, frankly, it's unlikely he will experience another point as high as his achievement in this profound, engaging and, mercifully, clear documentary on the consequences of our complacent greed. That ‘An Inconvenient Truth' provides little in the way of true revelations pertaining to the earth's (humanity's) looming ecological demise, and ignores some of the more profound problems of trapped car find out more...
BURMA VJ (2008)

CertificationU Our Rating

'Burma VJ' is an amazing collection of footage shot by Democratic Action for Burma activists as the 2007 popular attempted up-rising against the evil military junta took place and is both about the demonstrations and, more succinctly, about the brave Burman reporters who filmed them and transmitted the footage to the outside world. The resultant edit by Danish film-maker Anders Ostergaard has won more awards than you've had hot pies. Must watch stuff. find out more...

While the Americans were trying to reach the moon the economically and politically suffering British had found a new sort of hero, long distance yachters. The Sunday Times put up a prize for the person who could make the fastest non-stop solo circumnavigation of the globe, a feat thought beyond the endurance of man or machine and so it proved for all but one of the Kiplingesque adventurers who stepped into the breech. This remarkable documentary, from the team that brought us Touching The Voi find out more...

This is a very good deconstruction of the political polemicist Michael Moore, a man who's made a lot of money out of feeding liberals entertainment and whose cupboard rattles with skeletons. The film goes into a number of details of gross inaccuracies, and betrayals of the people he pertains to support, in order to further his career. In particular we learn about lies told in 'Roger and Me', eg about the supposed apathy of the locals and about being unable to talk to Roger. We hear about the len find out more...

A great documentary about the legendary New York Cosmos. Financed by Warner billionaire Steve Ross a football team who played on a cabbage patch, they painted the pitch green for Pele's arrival and first game!!!, went on to sign an international class team and draw crowds of over 50,000 a game in the short lived North American Soccer League. It was a big expensive roller-coaster, girls, parties and booze, and Cosmos' eventual collapse brought down the whole league and set back US soccer about 20 find out more...
SICKO (2007)

Mr Moore is at it again, trashing the core values of ‘The Land of the Brave and the Free', this time it's the ripoff American health service, a system which despite its huge cost is one of the least effective in the ‘developed' world. Moore compares it with the health services of Canada, Britain, France and Cuba as examples of how a system should be run, but, and this is always the flaw in Moore's documentaries, you never get a truly rounded argument. However the man's mission is to address the find out more...

The Devil Came On Horseback exposes the tragedy taking place in Darfur using the exclusive photographs and first hand testimony of former US Marine Captain Brian Steidle.
