CATCH-22 (1970)
Certification15 Our Rating
Adapted from the classic, absurdist, anti-war novel by Joseph Heller. "Catch-22" is the story of Yossarian, a pilot who trys to opt out of flying bombing missions by being declared insane, the catch being that anyone trying to avoid bombing missions by being insane must be sane. This dark classic catches much of the flavour of the book, the insanity, the corruption and the absurdity of war. Think MASH, but non-linear - flawed but awesome.

THE INSIDER (1999)

Based on the true story of a former tobacco employee who turns whistle-blower. The Insider is a gripping thriller, with a couple of scorching performances from Russell Crowe as the man in question and Al Pacino as a television producer determined to bring to the publics notice the corrupt and duplicitous machinations of a corporate giant. A powerful and absorbing movie.

David Aames has it all, but true love still eludes him, one night he believes he may have found the woman of his dreams but fate is about to deal him a brutal blow. David's rarified existence comes to a shuddering halt when he accepts a lift from an insanely jealous lover and as reality and fantasy begin to blur he is in danger of losing his sanity. Vanilla Sky is a remake of the Spanish film "Open Your Eyes" and despite my scepticism it is a gripping piece of cinema, impeccably performed, direc
