One of the great treats from 80s American cinema. Twelve year old Josh reckons he's getting a bad deal from life, and wishes he was big. For once in his life his wish comes true, and Josh finds himself in the body of a thirty year old man with a job and a girlfriend to cope with. Tom Hanks gives his funniest performance to date. Hilarious and perfectly balanced, the films strength is the skill with which it follows Hanks coming to grips with his grown body and all it affords. A timeless idea, be

FINDING NEMO (2003)
CertificationU Our Rating
Nemo is a clown fish and the only son of his over protective father; when the young lad is whisked a way by a scuba diver, his dad sets out on an adventure across the seas to find him, aided only by spectacularly forgetful regal blue tang called Dory. Finding Nemo has some great scenes, the vegan sharks and hippy turtles are amongst the highlights, but though visually stunning, as you would expect from Pixar, it lacks the sly but unobtrusive wit that made Toy Story and its sequel such a delight

HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE (2001)
CertificationPG Our Rating
JK Rowling's all conquering apprentice wizard gets his first film outing. Enrolled at Hogwarts school of wizardry and witchcraft the young Harry is soon up to his neck with trolls, evil wizards and hockey on a broomstick. 'The Philosopher's Stone' is a slick entry to the world of Harry Potter, not quite as engaging as it could have been, but an amiable way to while away a couple of hours.

MONSTERS INC (2001)

From the creators of Toy Story comes the third instalment of their groundbreaking animation. Sulley and Mike work at Monsters Inc, a huge factory in Monstropolis that turns the screams of children into energy, the two of them are very good at their job, i.e. terrifying kids, but when one little girl returns to their world all hell breaks loose. Monsters Inc is not up there with the Toy Story films, it lacks the adult wit of the first two and indeed the depth of character, but that said it's stil

MOUSEHUNT (1998)
CertificationPG Our Rating
Devilishly dark yet supremely silly comedy, starring Britain's own Lee Evans as one half of the Smuntz brothers, new owners of a crumbling old house left to them by their late pop, which just might be the answer to their dire financial embarassment. What they haven't banked on is the presence of a sqeaking squatter, a mouse with a mission who's not going to give up his tenancy without one humongous fight! The pairing of Evans and Lee is pure genius, and Christopher Walken is reliably maniacal as

SHREK (2001)
CertificationU Our Rating
Shrek is an Ogre who lives in contented anonymity in his swamp, but the threat of losing his home forces the reluctant beast to set off an adventure to rescue a tougher than old boots damsel in distress, closely followed by a particularly gobby donkey. Shrek effectively carries on the fine tradition began by 'Toy Story', stunning computer animation tied to a story that's apparently for kids but which has a script that's knowing, witty, loaded with in-jokes and squarely aimed at the adults. Good

THE MASK (JIM CARREY) (1994)
CertificationPG Our Rating
A hero to all those who probably don't have the bods to be Arnie, the suaveness to be Cary Grant or the wry smile of Harrison Ford; but to all with a stupid sense of humour Carrey is King. A little effects led compared with Ace Ventura but quelle effects! Smokin'!
