Louis (Gaspard Ulliel), a terminally ill writer, returns home after a long absence to tell his family that he is dying. 

Markus goes home to his teenage daughter, Mathilde, when his wife dies in a tragic train accident. It seems like an accident until a mathematics geek, who was also a fellow passenger on the train, and his two colleagues show up.

Michelle breaks up with her boyfriend and, in a panicked drive interstate, ends up unconcious in her vehicle by the side of the road. Thankfully, Howard was driving by and took her to his nearby home where he put her on a drip and nursed her back to health - well, sort of.
