This thoughtful tale depicts the immense pressure these young lads and their coach found themselves under in a town with nothing else to aspire to; like a "Springfield" devoid of wit, irony or indeed hope. 'Friday Night Lights' is a powerful, gripping drama with excellent performances and a refreshing lack of sporting schmaltz.
