Dum and Rumpoey fall in love as children and continue their affections into young adulthood until circumstances take them away from each other. When their paths next cross Dum has become a bandit and Rumpoey is about to reluctantly enter into an arranged marriage with Kumjorn, the local police captain; but though the two are now at opposite ends of the social pole their love still burns strong. Tears of the Black Tiger is a deliciously over the top homage to the melodrama of films past, to say it's kitsch doesn't quite do it justice. A visual treat, weird and wonderful.
