Milan steps off a train in a small French town where he meets Manesquir, a retired teacher, off whom, the local hotel being shut, he agrees to rent a room. What develops is a touching tale of the two totally different mens' views on each other and the realization that either could have chosen a different path in life. A charming and melancholic divertissement.
