Calvin owns and runs the Barbershop that his father and his father's father owned before him, a place of homey familiarity where customers and cutters shoot the breeze and generally put the world to rights. Calvin however wants more, he dreams of a life of wealth and respect and in a moment of rashness he sells the shop to a dodgy loan shark. Of course as soon as Calvin's handed over the ownership he realizes the error of his ways and what follows is an increasingly farcical and desperate attempt to get back his legacy. Barbershop is a comedy about community and very much in the same vein as Ice Cube's "Friday".
