Tom Hardy is an ex army ranger turned disgraced DEA agent. An old army buddy asks Tom to come down and investigate the disappearance of super hard special forces instructor Sgt Nathan West after a jungle exercise goes horribly wrong, and not overwhelmed with offers of work Tom happily accepts. So twisty turny it pretty much loses its own plot, Basic is an incoherent tale but a slick action thriller, with two of the big screens most charismatic (and paycheque hungry) stars.
