Maggie is a tough resilient woman living with her two daughters on the desolate plains of New Mexico. When Maggie's oldest child, Lily, is kidnapped by a ruthless and mystical band of renegade Native Americans she finds herself forced to turn to her father, a man who has embraced the ways of the Indigenous people and whom Maggie had long ago disowned. The Missing oozes "epic" and as you would expect from a Ron Howard film it's beautifully put together, the problem is just the one that seems to dog all his films, lots of great technical skill, the ability to draw excellent performances from some fine actors but the finished article always seems to lack soul, and this is no exception.
