Global warming causes a massive and sudden ice age to descend on the Northern hemisphere, particularly large cities in North America, in this case New York. This is the sort of scenario that would have most of the developed world cowering in horror, while everyone south of the equator holds impromptu street parties. But rest assured my nervous friends this is a disaster movie with the accent firmly on entertainment and, damn, the special effects are a mind melter. There is a story of sorts about a climatologist, who said ‘I told you so', and his lost son, but they're peripheral to the visual spectacle and we all know it. A quick slalom down the Empire State anyone? Ideal for the family but might give younger viewers nightmares, so be warned.
