Ex-CIA agent John Creasy is a tortured soul when he's hired by a wealthy family to protect their young daughter in the kidnap capital of the world, Mexico City. A bond forms between protector and child, providing Creasy with focus, when she's kidnapped for ransom, for the first time in many years. Ergo Creasy sets out on a bloody and brutal path of vengeance. Man On Fire is a super-slick, super-brutal action thriller; loaded with atmospheric shaky camera shots, fast edits, and big explosions dumped on top of a somewhat hackneyed story. Ignore the film's tragic attempts to be more than it is and just enjoy the smoothly executed mayhem.
