Lou Jean Joplin is a young mother desperate to hold onto her son, a child the authorities want to put up for adoption. Lou's attempt to escape the law swiftly escalates out of all proportion, and with a state trooper as hostage she sets in motion a convoy of pursuing police in her race across Texas. Based on a true story, Sugarland Express was Steven Spielberg's very first feature, a sharp road movie drama that unfortunately pales in comparison to the seminal "Badlands".
