Ben Randall is a living legend within the Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers, but, after a tragedy at sea and the break up of his marriage, he finds himself reluctantly training new recruits, one of whom is the cocky but gifted Jake Fischer. It is in Jake that Ben sees the possibility of greatness and to this end the two lock heads, fight like cat and dog, hate, love, respect and admire. Some great action scenes and a lot of sub-‘Officer And Gentleman' drama make 'The Guardian' perfect rainy Sunday afternoon fodder.
