Review
Phenomenally watchable TV sci-fi about the human race fighting for survival in the face of a revolt from their cyborg creations, the Cylons. The plot is straight out of a B-movie, but the cast take to the story with gusto, playing out their roles with a delicate balance of tongue-in-cheek soap opera savvy and earnest last-action-hero gravitas. A must watch for sci-fi fans; a you-really-should-try-it-out for everyone else. Frakkin excellent. 33; the refugee fleet is chased by the Cylons, who pop up every 33 minutes for five days straight, not giving the crew time to sleep. A passenger ship called the 'Olympic Carrier' is left behind, rebooting their jump computer when the jump is executed and, when it rejoins the fleet, it seems certain that the ship must have been infiltrated. Water; Boomer's Cylon side asserts itself, forcing her to sabotage Galactica's water supply, leading to the loss of 60% of the water reserves and Commander Adama introduces rationing and begins a search of nearby planetary systems for H20 deposits. Bastille Day; after deciding to use the thousand prisoners on a prison transport ship to mine the ice on the planet they've found, plans are upset when a political prisoner leads an uprising, demanding free elections be held. Act of Contrition; a drone accidentally goes off and explodes in a group of pilots, killing 13. Kara starts thinking about her dead fiancée Zak Adama and these memories get clearer when Adama orders her to start training new pilots. Meanwhile on Cylon-occupied Caprica Helo and Cylon-Sharon find a bomb shelter in a restaurant. It seems like a good place to stay for a while.
