Gavin is an amiable, decent London geezer, Stacey is a simple good hearted lass from the Welsh valleys and their relationship, when it moves from the telephone to the physical is a perfect match, unfortunately for the loved up couple their family and friends are the ‘dys' in dysfunctional…what's a girl and boy to do against such odds? This is the first series of the hugely popular series and it plays like an early Mike Leigh film with the social bite removed, some great lines and a fab cast couldn't get me past the overall feeling of underwhelment…but hey, my sense of humour's perverse and I'm a laugh ‘at' rather than ‘with' kind'a guy.
