After a terrible loss Audrey impulsively invites an equally damaged life long friend, Jerry, to come and stay with her and her two children and while the path is not an easy one the two slowly begin to draw the positive back out of each other. Things We Lost In The Fire is Susan Bier's first English language film and while a powerful and engaging human drama it struggles to compare with her mesmerisingly intense earlier work (After The Wedding, Brothers).
