A gifted young American graduate student arrives in Oxford hoping to be mentored by the eminent Professor Arthur Seldom, but while the two don't immediately bond they are ultimately drawn together by a series of seemingly linked but unfathomable murders. The parallels with an episode of ‘Inspector Morse' are even more obvious than you might expect, right down to the TV level production values, but where this differs is in the level of coherence. The Oxford Murders very much wants to be a cerebral murder mystery but instead only rustles up a weak, unconvincing and worst of all largely tensionless drama.
