Divided into four seemingly unrelated tales we see a timid businessman risk it all on a fixed horse race; a fragile pop star finding her management contract unexpectedly in jeopardy; a gangster who is tortured by his visions of the future and a doctor driven to save his love from almost certain death. Weaving an insidious thread through all these lives is local crime boss, ‘Fingers'. The Air I Breathe attempts to pull off a pretty complex plot and an intriguing premise, unfortunately the film becomes disjointed and incoherent, defeated by its aspirations perhaps….and its ‘slickness'.
