In collusion with Lieutenant Jim Gordon and newly appointed (butter wouldn't melt) DA Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising anarchistic mastermind known to the terrified citizens and criminals of Gotham City as 'The Joker'. The second part of Chris Nolan's helming of the 'Bat' bloke franchise is even more accomplished than the first, but he's attempting to develop characters (although not necessarily Batman himself), so while the action is full on, blemish free and in plentiful supply, the film's substantial running time reflects his ambition.
