Mentally troubled Robert escapes to a small town where he secretly spies on Jenny through her window. They soon start an 'affair' (she stalks him), but when her boyfriend disappears, Robert becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. Poor lad, whatever he does he always comes up smelling of doodah, and things only go from bad to worse. A credible effort by Brit music video director Jamie Thraves at readapting Patricia - 'The Talented Mr Ripley' 'Ripley's Game' 'Strangers on a Train' 'Der Amerikanische Freund' 'Plein Soleil' - Highsmith's psychological thriller previously shot by Claude Chabrol as 'Le Cri du Hibou', and superb acting from the always good Paddy Considine and Julia Stiles.
