Helena's restless old goat of an ex-husband, Alfie, has taken up with a loud hooker who he somehow believes to be his dream girl, while she herself has drifted into the world of spiritual mumbo jumbo. Helena's daughter Sally is enduring her marriage to blocked novelist Roy while growing enchanted by her boss. Meanwhile, Roy is spending too little time writing and too much time mooning over their stunning neighbour across the street. Allen's emotional drama never really touches on believability and the excellent cast seem wilfully miscast. Still intriguing on some levels it is unfortunately unconvincing on more.
