A hospital porter witnesses the death of a doctor and then discovers he's applying for a new post. Assuming the deceased doctor's identity, he gets the job himself, but finds his problems are just beginning as he now has to cope in charge of casualty. What unfolds is, at times, excruciating in this unusual British film.
